Hail to Coffee

Caffeine is my shepherd; I shall not doze.
It maketh me to wake in green pastures:
It leadeth me beyond the sleeping masses.
It restoreth my buzz:
It leadeth me in the paths of consciousness
for its name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of addiction,
I will fear no Equal™: For thou art with me;
thy cream and thy sugar they comfort me.
Thou preparest a carafe before me in the presence of The Starbucks:
Thou anointest my day with pep; my mug runneth over.
Surely richness and taste shall follow me all the days of my life:
And I will dwell in the House of Mochas forever.

Coffeeholic.I.Am

What amount of coffee consumption could be quantified as an addiction? One cup a day? Two? The most I've ever had was three. (And that was on one rare occasion only...one!) But the smell of coffee... el aroma... it's haunting me. Without any actual stimulus, I can imagine the smell wafting in the air. I just have to have a cup. These past few days, it's not just the smell anymore. Anything related to coffee -- a teaspoon, a cup -- stokes my desire to sip. I dare say I am becoming a coffeeholic.

How addicted am I? I can't tell yet. But I do know how this started. The marketing genius behind Starbucks' Christmas campaign is to blame. Drink your coffee, collect stickers, then exchange them for a planner. Hahaha! I did get my planner (2 in fact). But the thing is, I also came away with this addiction as a bonus.

BAH! I don't care anymore! One anonymous author once said:

Everybody should believe in something.
I believe I'll have another coffee.
