Blue is a fan of Ben 10. It's not a secret that he is a Ben Ten wannabe. For a mom like me, the cartoon series gets a thumbs up. While Cartoon Network is a kiddie channel, I still feel that some shows are not kid-friendly. Ben 10 is one of the shows that Blue is allowed to watch; and it's also one that we enjoy watching together.
And so today, when we couldn't agree on a movie to watch for a Saturday movie-in-bed-family-bonding, we settled on Ben 10: Race Against Time. Personally, I was apprehensive that they could pull off a cartoon-to-movie adaptation. I mean, an animated movie -- sure! But real people portraying, Ben, Gwen and Grandpa Max? Hmmm... I'm not too sure.
But the truth is, I was excited to see how they're going to show the aliens. I didn't have to wait long. Heatblast came out in the first 10 minutes of the movie. And was he cool!...er...hot! (just a little to chubby, though.) When Greymatter came out, he was hilarious! We were just rolling with laughter. I was hoping to see Four Arms, but too bad he wasn't in the movie. Wild Mutt made up for it plenty, though. I was shouting like a kid when he came out, "Hahaha! Stinky, slobbering dog!" His fur seemed so, well, furry! I liked that! Diamondhead was also there, but I wasn't really a fan. As for Ben, Gwen and Grandpa? They weren't so bad either.
My husband is not so familiar with Ben 10, but he laughed hard and enjoyed the movie just the same. Blue's choice for today's movie was surely great. The only thing is...
Blue grabbed his Omnitrix immediately after the movie. He asked me to put it on him, but Daddy wanted it as well. Now they are taking turns being Ben. Ok, ok, I have no complaints. It's great father and son bonding, after all. But wait, who's the evil alien? ME?!?! I can hear them coming, "Look, there's an evil alien taking over our computer!" Uh, oh! Have to go now...
