Mary did you know that your baby boy will one day walk on water?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will save our sons and daughters?
Did you know that your baby boy has come to make you new?
This child that you've delivered, will soon deliver you.
Mary did you know that your baby boy will give sight to a blind man?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will calm a storm with his hand?
Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels tried?
And when you kiss your little baby, you have kissed the face of God.
The blind will see, the deaf will hear and the dead will live again.
The lame will leap, the dumb will speak, the praises of the lamb.
Mary did you know that your baby boy is Lord of all creation?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will one day rule the nations?
Did you know that your baby boy is heaven's perfect Lamb?
This sleeping child you're holding is the great I am.
I often think that being a mother is hard work. I often complain that I don't get enough credit. I still get teary-eyed with every milestone my little guy reaches. I can't stop hugging him, kissing him and telling him how much I love him. And always, it rips my heart to think that someday, my boy is going to leave me to have a life of his own.
Considering what Mama Mary had to sacrifice, I feel so diminutive. I can just imagine how agonizing it could have been to have a son, and yet not really have him. I couldn't even begin to fathom how selfless Mama Mary was to have to share her son with everyone else. For a regular mom like me, it's already unbearable to see my son get hurt or to be disappointed in any way. For Mama Mary, she had to endure the sorrow of watching her son die on the cross.
This Christmas season, I send out a standing ovation to all the mothers out there. Keep on nurturing your children...you'll never know how your love molds greatness in each of them.
PS. I love you so much, Mom!
